Adrian Newey, Aston Martin's star engineer, will be with Fernando Alonso at the Monaco GP: "We're still working on this car."

Aston Martin has confirmed that Adrian Newey , its great hope in the technical department ahead of the new regulations for 2026, will be present at the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix . This is the first race in which the team's star engineer returns to the track since leaving Red Bull last season.

At Imola, it was clear how the initial improvements introduced by the Silverstone-based team in 2025 represented a leap forward in terms of performance for the car driven by Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, although poor strategy and terrible luck prevented the drivers from scoring points in Italy.

"Understandably, Lawrence [Stroll] wants us to do as well as possible in 2025, so there's a small team still working on this year's car from an aerodynamic point of view. I've had a few conversations over lunch with that small group, talking about the car and what we can do about it," Newey said of the AMR25's updates in a recent interview.

In Monaco, he will be accompanied by his unmistakable notebook, which evokes so many victories and triumphs for those unfamiliar with its contents: "To be honest, the notebook doesn't have much inside ; it's just a holder for many pieces of A4 paper. They're usually sketches, ideas, notes," the engineer revealed.

"It's just a quick way of getting down what's on my mind. It's a way of developing ideas and then communicating them, even though most of them are probably incomprehensible to anyone else. Sometimes I can't read my own handwriting—it's incomprehensible to me too! " joked the Aerodynamic Genius, who will be able to make new notes about his rivals and everything that happens during the weekend.
